I’m a meticulous planner by nature—anyone who knows me will confirm this. Yet, for reasons I can’t quite explain, I decided to let go of my usual approach on this trip. No itinerary, no list of must-see attractions, just the freedom to wander and discover. London turned out to be the perfect destination for such an unstructured adventure.
Day 1: Arrival and Wandering
I arrived in London around 10:00 a.m. and headed straight to our accommodation, the Regency Court Hotel. It was a charming place in a prime location, within walking distance of the city center and surrounded by delightful cafes and restaurants. After checking in, we stepped out of the hotel without a plan—turning left and letting our curiosity guide us.
Our first find was Caffè Nero, where we enjoyed a cozy breakfast to fuel our day. From there, we stumbled upon the Natural History Museum. Spending about an hour inside, we were captivated by the incredible exhibits, a truly unforgettable experience.
Continuing our spontaneous exploration, a short 10-minute walk brought us to Hyde Park, the largest of the Royal Parks. For over two hours, we wandered its lush grounds, visiting landmarks like the Albert Memorial, Royal Albert Hall, Italian Gardens, and Kensington Palace, along with the many memorials, fountains, and statues scattered throughout the park.
Jet lag and hours of walking began to catch up with us, so we returned to the hotel for a brief rest. Dinner was at Flora Indica, a unique Indian restaurant where the food and cocktails exceeded our expectations. Afterward, we took a leisurely stroll to Redcliffe Square Gardens before calling it a night.
Day 2: Iconic London and Shopping
We started the day with a clear goal: visiting Harrods, London’s iconic luxury department store. After a 35-minute walk to Brampton Road, we spent two hours exploring its opulent displays and surrounding shops.
Next, we headed to Regent Street, a bustling shopping area. Along the way, we checked off several iconic landmarks: the Chinatown Gate, Royal Academy of Arts, Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, and Westminster Bridge, where we captured stunning photos of the London Eye. Six hours of walking, shopping, and sightseeing later, we returned to the hotel for dinner and a well-deserved rest.
Day 3: Departure
With only a few hours to spare before catching our 4:00 p.m. Eurostar to Paris, we took one last stroll around Bramham Gardens, marveling at London’s prestigious real estate. Our final meal in the city was at Cafe Du Coin, a quaint spot that perfectly capped off our London adventure.
This unplanned trip turned out to be one of the most refreshing travel experiences I’ve ever had, proving that sometimes, the best way to explore is to simply let go and get lost in the moment.
